Credit Repair
Also known as: credit restoration
Definition: The process of legally improving one’s “damaged” credit score by utilizing the provisions offered in many consumer-protection legislations. This procedure often focuses on strategically targeting fraudulent or inaccurate negative items for removal from one’s credit report. This end is typically achieved by either contacting the responsible creditor and negotiating with them for the item’s removal or by disputing the accuracy of the item with one or more of the major credit bureaus.
