In the midst of the collapse of the housing market, national credit bureau Experian looks to diversify its role in credit reporting to include areas beyond its former mainstay of mortgage lending. Thus, in what seems to be a continued and steady strategic separation from FICO, Experian has announced a specialized form of automotive credit reporting. From what I can gather from the article, the new system is designed specifically for the automotive industry’s sales personnel to be able to close more auto loans.

The details of the system are still murky, but I suspect that it is based upon a unique credit scoring algorithm that differs from the standardized FICO scoring model in order to give more weight to relevant credit history including on-time payments on car loans and other vehicular financing. Whether or not the new system places less emphasis on foreclosures and other increasingly common negative mortgage items remains to be seen.

The basic framework for the Credipedia is in place. Next, I’ll be going through and revising the definitions I currently have in place for various entries, then I’ll complete the entries which I haven’t gotten around to doing yet. Once the basic information is solid, I’ll begin to crosslink the entries with each other.
